Do you have my vaccine information on the registry?
The Arkansas Department of Health started the Immunization Registry in 2006. Legislation was passed that required all childhood immunizations given at a medical facility be sent to the registry either through electronic medical record transfer, or manual entry by the medical staff. At that time, we were utilizing a system called INC. In 2013, Arkansas purchased a state-of-the-art registry from Envision Inc. called WebIZ. All records that were previously in our INC system were migrated over to the new system on May 25, 2013.
If you were born in Arkansas and received any childhood vaccines in the state of Arkansas after 2006, we should have those records up to the age of 21. At the age of 22, Arkansas legislation considers you an adult in the case of vaccines. Medical facilities in Arkansas do not have to report vaccines given to adults. Some do, but it is at their discretion. The only discrepancy to this rule was during the Covid Pandemic. All COVID vaccines given between December 2020-May 2023 were required by law to be reported no matter the age of the patient.
If you were born prior to 2006, we may have your records, but it will depend on the facility that gave you the vaccine. Prior to 2006 all vaccines given were stamped or handwritten on a yellow or white shot card and given to the parent or guardian. If you do not have the original shot card, a copy of the card or print out from your medical facility can be brought to any Local Health Unit and they will create an electronic record for you.
*Adults who are looking for childhood vaccine records for the purpose of enrolling in higher education may be eligible for a Vaccine Exemption. Arkansas offers 3 types of Vaccine exemption: Medical Religious, and Philosophical. See Exemption article in this Knowledgebase.
